Non-Shooting Course | 3 Hours

The Firearm Safety Course provides students with the foundational knowledge and mindset necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition, with a particular emphasis on home and family safety.

This course is designed for new firearm owners, prospective owners, and anyone seeking a clear understanding of responsible firearm practices. Instruction focuses on developing the proper attitude, awareness, and decision-making required to prevent accidents and ensure firearms are handled safely at all times.

Course Topics Include:

  • The three fundamental rules of safe firearm handling

  • Primary causes of firearm-related accidents

  • Basic firearm parts and terminology

  • Safe unloading procedures for common firearm action types

  • Ammunition components and identification

  • Basic firearm cleaning and care

  • Safe and secure firearm storage practices in the home

This is a non-shooting course and does not involve live fire. While students are not required to bring firearms or ammunition, it is highly encouraged to bring your own firearm to gain hands-on familiarity during instruction. All training is conducted in a controlled classroom or instructional setting and is suitable for individuals with little to no prior firearms experience.

This course is often a prerequisite for the Shooting Foundations Course and can be combined with it into a single-day training session for students who wish to complete both foundational classroom and basic shooting instruction in one visit.
