“A frontier remedy reborn for the modern marksman.”
For those familiar with the old “Moose Snot” recipe that’s circulated among black powder shooters for years — the originator knew his craft. But Musket Glide isn’t a copy of that blend. This is Grandpa’s own recipe, crafted from all-natural ingredients available more than 150 years ago — a formulation true to what long hunters, pioneers, and fur trappers would have carried in their possibles bags.
Beeswax-based and smooth as tallow, Musket Glide is applied directly to your bullet patch before seating the round ball. It provides consistent lubrication, easier loading, and reliable accuracy — without the modern additives or synthetic fillers.
Each 2-ounce metal tin features a secure screw-top lid to keep it sealed in your shooting pouch or pack. This mixture will not spoil or go rancid — one of our first test batches from 2009 still performs as it did the day it was poured.
As a hand-made, hand-poured product, each tin bears the subtle variations in color and texture that come with authentic craftsmanship — just as it would have in a trapper’s kit two centuries ago.
